A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OUTSIDE ACCOUNT MANAGER

As an Outside Account Manager in wholesale distribution, you are responsible for selling, marketing, promoting, and profitably aligning our company’s products and services to both current and potential customers. You create and execute effective account plans for the sale and marketing of identified product lines through customer-focused strategies. By establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships, you are able to seek out new opportunities to grow profitable sales as well as identify a target customer base. You then use all available data and tools to develop a targeted sales strategy for all products and services.

In addition, you facilitate customer-focused training events such as technical classes, lunch meetings, and business-related presentations. This helps you communicate essential points in an informal and conversational manner as well as build friendships and trust among customers by ensuring they are well-informed about the purchases they are making. You also coordinate with product vendors for targeted customer conversions as well as use the integrity selling/AIDINC sales model to produce positive business results. At times, you use your exceptional customer service skills to suggest alternative products or services to ensure each customer is receiving a personalized experience and finding products that meet their needs.

You continuously execute a disciplined sales process at all assigned accounts to utilize quotation management, which includes initial inquiry, quotation, close, delivery, and follow-up. In addition, you use and maintain a customer relationship management (CRM) tool to monitor all activity. Your motivation and drive push you to market and profitably sell all product lines our company has to offer no matter how challenging the work can sometimes be. Your vast knowledge of our products and high-quality customer service skills make you the perfect addition to our team, which is why you find great satisfaction in the work that you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUTSIDE SALES:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience selling pipe, valves, fittings, or commercial plumbing products
  • Ability to learn about and use software applications, including Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally about 80% of the time
  • Current driver’s license
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic math skills
