OVERVIEW:
The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for applying accounting principles to assist in the preparation and processing of accounting transactions, preparing schedules to analyze information, and assist in creating financial reports for a multi legal entity corporation. This position reports to the Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate Balance Sheet account reconciliations (including bank statements).
- Prepare journal entries and perform variance analysis and review of various accounts during month-end close process.
- Support finance, upper management, and other partners
- Ensure various journal entries (non inventory/cost of sales) are recorded using US GAAP.
- Participate in month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting, preparing accruals and schedules and submitting monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages as directed by management.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist with requests as directed by management.
- Assist with other tasks and duties as they may arise.
- May include any or all of the following areas:
- Record and track all Fixed Assets purchases, transfers, disposals, WIP, and depreciation.
- Prepare deferred rent, leasing journal entries, and analysis.
- Reconcile property tax accruals.
- Prepare calculation for payroll/commissions and insurance related accruals.
- Calculation and reconciliation of prepaid expenses.
- Calculation and reconciliation of customer rebates.
- Prepare tax schedules for outside tax firm as requested.
- Assist in conversion to new ERP and financial management system as needed.
Education/Experience:
BS in Accounting or related Finance area required
CPA license required
3+ years of public, or a combination of public and industry accounting experience, ideally with multi-site business.
Big 4 experience preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with various levels in the organization. This position is a point of contact for financial questions from other divisions within the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to effectively apply mathematical concepts such as described by the job responsibilities described above.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Excellent analytical skills, ability to quickly understand P & L reports and isolate issues.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Prior experience with Workday a plus, but not required.
